High school diploma or equivalent required; post-high school specialized training preferred. Previous secretarial experience desirable, along with customer service skills. Required skills include operation of office machines such as calculator, fax, photocopier, typewriter and personal computer. Administrative skills needed to answer telephones, coordinate meetings, maintain patient charts, establish/maintain filing systems and log, compose letters/memos, develop office procedures, schedule appointments and input data into computer programs.
Performs clerical, reception, registration, and designated administrative duties. Requisitions supplies, equipment and services as directed. Provides administrative and secretarial services in Maternal & Newborn Services for registering newborns with the MS Dept of Health Vital Records and maintains department files related to birth certificates, affidavits and department statistics.
