SDH Receiving Clerk

 

Job Summary

 

The Receiving Clerk is responsible for receiving and validating deliveries for the hospital to include all medical/Lab supplies, equipment, furniture, capital equipment, and miscellaneous packages and tag for delivery to the correct location.

 

Job Requirements

 

Minimum Education

 

High School diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree in Computer, Math, Business, or Supply Chain related field preferred.

 

Required Skills

 

Proficiency in Math as evidenced by Competency Test given during interview process; proficiency with using computers (both hand held devices and stationary terminals); verbal and written communication skills, and customer service skills; familiarity with healthcare and medical supply terminology desirable.

 

Experience

 

Must have a minimum of 2 years Supply Chain experience working in a warehouse or distribution center with a minimum of 1 years experience in receiving; experience will be waived in lieu of Associates Degree or higher in one of the fields listed above, or minimum 1 year experience in receiving requirement may be waived in lieu of 3 years or greater experience in warehouse or distribution center.  Healthcare Supply Chain experience is preferred.

Essential Functions

 

Inspects shipments being delivered to the hospital for damage; rejects any damaged shipments, documents damage on Bill of Lading or appropriate paperwork, reports all damage to Receiving and Logistics Manager and Inventory Control Manager, signs for all intact/non-damaged shipments, and maintains accurate and complete records of all rejections.

Dock logs all packages from UPS, FedEX, and LTL carriers.

Performs receiving functions in MMIS system both on hand-held devices and stationary terminal.

Performs receipts of items by validating manufacturer catalog number on packages and quantities match both packing slips and purchase orders in MMIS system.  Reports all discrepancies to Receiving and Logistics Manager and discrepancies on General Stores items to the Inventory Control Manager.

Accurately tags supplies for delivery to the appropriate department or General Stores location.

Assists with putting up stock in General Stores.

Assists with delivery of supplies when there are no receiving functions to be performed.

Performs cycle counts in General Stores.

Maintains cleanliness of work area as required.

Understands role in hospital’s fire, safety, and disaster plan.

Contributes positively to the hospital’s mission, philosophy, and objectives.

Any other duties as assigned.

 

Functional Demands

 

Prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting.

Lifting up to 50 pounds with or without assistance; pushing or pulling up to 100 pounds with or without assistance.

Reaching, stooping, bending, kneeing, and/or crouching to perform job functions.

Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing duties.

Ability to operate both manual and powered material handling equipment.

Ability to perform effectively at a production pace in a stressful and fast-paced environment.

May be subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations, and hazardous or infectious agents where judgement is essential as to precautions that need to be taken.

Climate control and ambient temperature variances may be experienced.

Exposure to limited amounts of hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes are a possibility.

Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly changed or extended to meet the needs of the organization or in emergency situations.

Direct contact with blood or other body fluids to which universal precautions apply may occur.  Personal protective equipment will be made available and must be worn.
