Physician Assistant/ Nurse Practitioner- SDMA Internal Medicine
Works collaboratively with the CV surgeons, anesthesiology department, cardiology department, nursing director, and ancillary directors and staff to improve the clinical outcomes and processes of care for all patients undergoing cardiac surgery, cardiac intervention, and acute/chronic cardiovascular disease. Brings clinical expertise, leadership, consultation, teaching, and research to patients and physicians. Utilizes in-depth knowledge of cardiovascular disease to drive improvement through various roles and alliances.
Board certified Physician Assistant. Five years of experience in Critical Care Unit preferred. Employee must demonstrate ability to recognize patients' individual needs based on medical conditions, age (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, young adults, middle-aged and geriatric), limitations and planned procedures. Requires good judgment in delivering patient care; good oral and written communication skills.
Participates in the weekly CV Task Force meetings and the weekly Cardiology/CVS Grand Rounds. Establishes prioritization method for assessing and following any patient admitted for acute and chronic cardiovascular disease (as determined by the CV Task Force). Ensures that appropriate risk assessment process (Euroscore), as endorsed by the medical staff, is in place for each potential surgical candidate. Participates in daily multidisciplinary rounds for all cardiovascular ICU patients. Support and follows up on results of multidisciplinary rounds for AMI, CHF, and AF patients. Collaborates with the Cath. Lab Director to ensure that effective transitions are in place for patients having cardiac catheterization procedures to be followed by surgical intervention.
