Requires significant experience in ethernet and gigabit networked environment utilizing unix and all current versions of Windows operating systems. CNE/CNA certification preferred. Requires skills in Windows server and desktop operating systems and technologies. Requires strong knowledge of network management and analysis tools. Enterprise firewall management is a huge plus – preferably Palo Alto and/or Cisco ASA. Unix/Linux systems administration is also a definite plus.
This position maintains all aspects of both wired and wireless IT networking integrity (monitoring, troubleshooting, repair, capacity planning and lifecycle management) within and between our numerous facilities. This includes reporting operational statuses to management. This position will also be expected to maintain other areas of enterprise level IT infrastructure including, but not limited to, Active Directory, Server and PC management, VMware, Virtual Desktop Infrastructure, Citrix technologies, Storage Area Networks and backup and recovery technologies.
This position works closely with other IT support and IT engineering personnel throughout the organization. Collaborates with outside partners/vendors on multiple simultaneous projects in support of organizational needs. Assists in the strategic planning of information systems to ensure the success of the hospital system in the areas of both current and new technologies. Reports to the IT Infrastructure Supervisor.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science preferred.
Minimum Work Experience
Five to Eight years experience with management, administration, and support of enterprise level IT network and infrastructure technologies required.
The position demands excellent problem solving and analytical skills as well as outstanding oral and written communication skills. Self-motivation and the ability to work under minimal supervision are a must. Any candidate must demonstrate familiarity project management and business insight principles.
Applies the use of systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users, to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications. Resolves problems in a timely and accurate manner. Provides training as requested. Serves as project lead. Assists in the planning, designing, implementing, documenting and supporting of secure LAN, WAN and wireless networks. Makes configuration changes as required, and applies advanced troubleshooting. Monitors, maintains, supports, and optimizes all networked software and associated operating systems. Applies communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to resolve and prevent issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. Interact with users, vendors, and other(s) to ensure that systems are functional and meet the needs of all parties involved. All interactions, work flow, productivity levels and quality standards are implemented with a "Customer Service" approach to both the internal and external customers. Administration and management of assigned daily operations, which include analysis, installation, and maintenance of infrastructure and applications. Ensures integrity of all data residing on network servers. Documents plans for mitigation or quick recovery. Participates in capacity planning, forecasting, workload modeling for databases, networks, storage, and systems. Evaluates infrastructure performance based on the business requirements. Administers engineering health checks and engages vendors as needed to ensure optimal system and storage configuration and provisioning. Reports system and storage allocation, I/O performance, bottleneck analysis, and usage trends. Performs other duties as requested.
