Mental Health Tech BHS Gero Psych
Provides a full range of treatment services to patients and families. Responsible for the basic care, comfort, and safety of patients. Maintains complete and accurate patient records and provides feedback as necessary to treatment team. Reports to Nurse Manager.
Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
Orients new patients to unit, conducts contraband searches, and provides patient escort as needed.
Leads community meetings.
Relates with patients, public, and team members in a manner conducive to harmonious working environment in which patient centered goals are achieved.
Gathers and documents data necessary to assess patient progress.
Provides psychiatric care in accordance with hospital standards of patient care.
Takes vital signs and assists with admission and discharge.
Supports and interprets hospital’s Christian mission, philosophy and objective.
Maintains confidentiality of patients and other pertinent information.
Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops. Attends meetings as required.
Must have successfully completed 60 semester hours of junior or senior college work, or a high school diploma and 2 years of experience in a mental health or related field. Must be CPR and CPI certified or obtain certifications within 6 months of employment. Must demonstrate ability to recognize patients’ individual needs based on medical conditions, age (young adults, middle aged, and geriatric), limitations and planned procedures, and have good verbal and written communication skills. This position has been determined to have a high risk of occupational exposure to blood borne pathogens.
