JOB SUMMARY
Manages the Ultrasound Department; establishes policies, procedures, standards and objectives for the provision of diagnostic services. Reports to administrator of MS Heart: Vascular Institute.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education Courses in Ultrasound Technology required; Bachelor degree or graduate of a radiologic technology program preferred.
 
Required Skills Supervisory experience is required; sufficient previous experience in cardio and vascular ultrasound required. Pediatric echo preferred.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Prepares work schedules, assigns personnel, evaluates work performance and makes recommendations for personnel actions and operation improvements. Maintains established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, quality assurance program, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Ensures the delivery of quality services in area of operations. Acts as an educational resource and is available for consultation to medical, nursing, and administrative staff. Establishes and maintains communication within the department and with other hospital departments. Develops relationships with professional affiliations and others as appropriate. Participates in quality assurance program. Establishes and maintains safety, environmental and infection control policies and procedures for the department. Prepares written documentation as required by the profession and the department, such as evaluation results, individualized treatment plans, progress reports, etc. Performs all ultrasound techniques and examinations, and diagnostic tests to include: echocardiograms, dopplers, venous duplex, etc. Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examination. Positions and transfers patients comfortably. Maintains clean and orderly work areas. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops. Attends meetings as required. Responsible for lab accreditation. Performs other duties as assigned or requested.
