Clinical Performance Improvement Coordinator

Full-time, M - F, Days

  • Bachelor of Science in a healthcare or clinical discipline required.
  • Minimum of three years experience in an acute care hospital setting, including a working knowledge of quality and peer clinical review processes, standards and performance improvement methodologies.
  • Lean Management/Six Sigma Greenbelt or higher preferred.
  • Direct experience with process improvement required.
  • Must be highly skilled in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

Work assignments involve extensive medical record review, data analysis, and compilation of reports and the presentation of reports at hospital/medical staff meetings. Primary focus is on concurrent review of inpatient records for specific diagnosis, including intervention with healthcare providers to ensure compliance with evidenced based standards. This includes assessing and reviewing the quality of patient care provided by direct care providers. Applies the knowledge of a clinician to determine the key factors in each case and whether the care meets peer review criteria.  Effectively facilitates interdisciplinary and/or interdepartmental performance improvement teams in order to support organization wide performance improvement activities.

Other Duties:

Possesses excellent written and verbal communication with the MD’s, staff and administration.

Identifies and facilitates Performance Improvement Initiatives.

Assists and facilitates Medical Staff/CPPE evaluations and reports.

Performs preliminary reviews and data abstraction from medical records.

Prepares medical records for peer review.

Coordinates completion and prepares minutes of peer review for assigned depts.

Collaborates with department chair regarding appropriate actions and follow up.

Analyzes data and identifies opportunities for improvements.

Assists in coordination of medical staff quality improvement activities.

Presents reports at and participates in assigned section, committee and department meetings.

Serves as resource to medical staff.

Assists with hospital quality improvement activities as assigned.

Keeps up to date with current regulations and standards related to duties.

Prioritizes and plans work activities.

Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness.

Completes work in timely manner, meets deadlines.

Written and graph reports are presented in a clear, organized and professional manner.
