Assistant Activity Coordinator/St. Catherine's Village
St. Catherine's Village is seeking a dynamic full-time Assistant Activity Coordinator to join their team. The Assistant Activity Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Activity Coordinator in the planning, developing, scheduling, coordination and implementation of meaningful activities appropriate to the needs and interests of our independent living residents and conducive to their physical, mental and social well-being. The Assistant Activity Coordinator is also responsible for assisting the Activity Coordinator in creating new activities and discovering innovative ways to constantly improve the programs for our independent living residents. Duties include: assist in all planning/coordination of entertainment for special events, arts program, group games, choir and religious services and group outings; responsible for decorating and the set-up/clean-up for special events; maintains applicable record keeping and attendance sheets for all activities; assist with preparation and distribution of monthly calenders, activity and program announcements, etc; maintains and update bulletin board as needed; maintains and order all supplies as needed; assists the residents' committees as required and manages volunteer residents' assignments; all other duties as assigned. Requirements include: high school diploma or equivalent; Bachelor's degree in therapeutic recreation, physical education or related field preferred; special talents such as playing musical instruments, creative artistry, etc. highly desirable; experience working with seniors and activities in a long-term care/healthcare setting preferred; must have strong interpersonal skills and love working with senior adults; must exhibit an energetic disposition and enthusiastically promote and communicate programs/events to residents; must have strong communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively and appropriately to residents; strong organization and intermediate computer skills required; flexibility in schedule required as this position may require some evening and weekend work.
