Job Summary
Develops, configures, maintains, and supports all new and existing network hardware, network software, and communication links. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to Wireless Systems, Wired Systems and Network Management. Manages daily activities of the network to include testing and analysis of all components of network facilities to ensure operational status. Instructs support personnel in monitoring tools available. Manages corrective actions necessary to provide adequate network performance and growth. Reports to the Systems/Network Supervisor.
Job Requirements
Minimum Education
BS in Management Information Systems or equivalent.
Minimum Work Experience
Five to Eight years experience with management, administration, and support of enterprise level technology infrastructure required.
Required Skills Interest in, and a basic understanding of, common IS technologies such as Active Directory, Server and PC management systems, virtual desktops, Citrix technologies, bare metal imaging, application streaming and storage area networks. Strong knowledge of network management and analysis tools. Extensive client/server and operating system experience. Excellent problem solving and analytical skills, and outstanding oral and written communication skills Self-motivation and the ability to work under minimal supervision are a must. Familiar with metrics, project management and business insight principles.
Essential Functions
Applies the use of systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users, to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications. Resolves problems in a timely and accurate manner.Provides training as requested. Serves as project lead and may serve in supervisor's absence.Assists in the planning, designing, implementing, documenting and supporting of secure LAN, WAN and wireless networks.Makes configuration changes as required, and applies advanced troubleshooting.Monitors, maintains, supports, and optimizes all networked software and associated operating systems. Applies communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to resolve and prevent issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments. Interact with users, vendors, and other(s) to ensure that systems are functional and meet the needs of all parties involved. All interactions, work flow, productivity levels and quality standards are implemented with a "Customer Service" approach to both the internal and external customers. Administration and management of assigned daily operations, which include analysis, installation, and maintenance of infrastructure and applications Ensures integrity of all data residing on network servers, including daily backup monitoring and reporting, and offsite tape/media rotation for all backup sites. Documents plans for mitigation or quick recovery .Participates in capacity planning, forecasting, workload modeling for databases, networks, storage, and systems.Evaluates infrastructure performance based on the business requirements.Administers engineering health checks and engages vendors as needed to ensure optimal system and storage configuration and provisioning.Reports system and storage allocation, I/O performance, bottleneck analysis, and usage trends.
Functional Demands
Prolonged periods of standing, walking, or sitting while on duty. Lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds with or without assistance. Visual and auditory acuity and manual dexterity essential to performing designated duties required. Ability to perform effectively in a stressful and fast paced environment. Ability to pass all required health and other screening tests. Physical conditions are clean, neat and well lit. Maybe subjected to unpleasant sights and odors, stressful situations and hazardous or infectious agents where judgment as to precautions need to be taken is essential. Climate control an ambient temperature variances may be experienced. Exposure to limited amounts of hazardous chemicals or substances and infectious disease processes are a possibility. Hours of duty may be irregular or unexpectedly extended due to emergency circumstances. Direct contact with blood or other body fluids to which universal precautions apply. Personal protective equipment is made available and must be worn.
